Sussana

I'm Sussana from Yendi in Ghana. I hope my story will encourage other young women with disabilities to believe in themselves and know that they can become great people in future. Prior to CAMFED support, I thought I would have dropped out from school. But now my dream of becoming an art teacher is becoming a reality.

Growing up in rural Zambia, every day in education was a challenge to me. Today I am an advocate for girls’ education, working with stakeholders to improve the lives of others and achieve my dream that all girls in Zambia have access to quality education and become independent leaders.

Rose

As a passionate champion for girls’ education, I have grown a well-established reputation in my community and beyond, as an anti-child marriage activist. I regularly facilitate awareness campaigns around child marriage, speaking out in front of large groups of parents and children, teachers and school committee members, together with local traditional leaders, social welfare officers and the police.

Video – Esnart, Malawi

Esnart, a CAMFED supported student in Malawi, scored 6 points (the highest grade) in her school leaving exams. She was one of only three students nationally and the only girl to be awarded such a high grade. At her graduation ceremony in front of the whole school, she was congratulated on her achievement, and was also welcomed officially into the CAMFED Association.

My future outlook changed with CAMFED support, because every year we received support and I could afford to reach my dreams. Today I am a Learner Guide at the same school I attended. I understand the challenges students face, and my hope is to help them become self-aware and fulfil their goals.
