Girls’ education activist Ramatu Abubakari was elected to the position of CAMFED Association National Chairperson for Ghana in November 2023. With the support of CAMFED throughout her education, Ramatu is driven by her commitment to giving back, motivating her to help girls and women realize their full potential.

Ramatu began her leadership journey in 2012, serving as the President of the CAMFED Girls’ Club at her senior high school. Since joining the CAMFED Association in 2013, Ramatu has continually shown her commitment to education, first volunteering as a Peer Educator and Learner Guide at local secondary schools, and then working as a pupil teacher and Community Teacher’s Assistant.

Through her non-profit organization, Girlsvoice–Ramatu encourages girls to become leaders in their communities, as well as supporting vulnerable students with profits from her business enterprise.

Ramatu is passionate about improving maternal healthcare for rural women, qualifying as midwife in 2023 and aspiring to train as a gynecologist in future. As the new National Chairperson, Ramatu is dedicated to advancing the work of the CAMFED Association in Ghana.
