CAMFED Canada Board – Director
Nafisatu Bukari brings her voice, grounded in her youth and lived experience growing up and working in underserved rural communities of Northern Ghana to the CAMFED Canada Board.
She is an active CAMFED Association member who came to Canada as a Mastercard Foundation Scholar in 2019 and earned a Master of Science in Applied Human Nutrition at McGill University. In Ghana, Nafisatu attained a Bachelor of Science in Community Nutrition at the Ghana’s University of Development Studies and then worked with the Ghana Health Service as a licensed Nutrition Officer in underserved communities of East Ghana.
In her current role as a Women and Gender Equality Project Coordinator in Winnipeg, she actively builds partnerships with multiple stakeholders, including community-based Indigenous organizations and legal experts, to collaboratively address gender-based violence (GBV) through educational workshops and outreach initiatives. She also supports developing and implementing policy and procedural manuals on GBV in the workplace.
Nafisatu aspires to establish a non-profit organization in Africa to promote women’s economic empowerment.
