Dr Annie Sampa

Annie J. Sampa is a former Program Specialist at UN Women, and currently serves as a UNICEF Consultant looking at Issues of Child Safeguarding and PSEA in ECD, ECM and Social Cash Transfer 1000 Days in Chipata, Katete, Mpika, Mwinilunga, Senanga and Kalabo districts. Ms. Sampa just served as a Program Consultant for the UNFPA’s SRHR Gender, Adolescent Pregnancy and Social Norms program which covered two provinces and 8 districts. Ms. Sampa is a seasoned trainer, counselor and motivational speaker. Ms. Sampa has more than 25 years experience working with vulnerable children on issues including HIV/AIDS, child marriage, sexual, emotional and physical abuse. She has set up strategic response programs to gender based violence, and run youth economic empowerment programs. 

Ms. Sampa spent eight years working in social welfare at the Ministry of Development and Social Services, and served as the first National Country Manager for the elimination of the worst forms of child labor at the International Labour Organization.  She worked as Child Rights Officer at UNICEF between 2001 and 2015, having held various responsible positions, such as Emergency Focal point, Gender Focal Point and Specialist, and National Manager of the Building Young Futures program. She also led the National Campaign on Gender Based Violence, working closely with the First Lady’s Office, other Government Departments, local and international stakeholders, and served as Executive Director at the Pavillion Blu enterprise from 2015 to 2019.  

Ms. Sampa is a PhD student at Unilus, holds an MLitt in Sociology from Cambridge University, holds a Master of Science in Psychology and Post Graduate Diploma in Child Psychology from the Kharkov State University and has lectured at the University of Zambia (UNZA) in the Psychology department.

Ms. Sampa serves on the following boards: Current National Chair for the Women’s Constituency on the Global Fund addressing issues TV, HIV & AIDS, Malaria and COVID-19; Chair for the WASHE NGO, Vice Chair for Zambia Livestock Cooperative Union; Chair for FLAME, Publicity Secretary for NGOCC among others.
