Donations

I would like to make a donation as a gift for a friend or family member. How can I do this?

To donate as a gift, go to our donate page and tick the ‘Send an eCard’ option to celebrate a special occasion box.
Alternatively, get in touch with us at usa@camfed.org to request a postal card for the recipient, to be sent after your donation is made, which we can then post to them directly.

Can I make a donation to support a specific country or program?

Yes, you can do this in one of two ways:

We are always happy to answer any questions about how we ensure that your funds reach the programs and/or countries you specify.

I wish to donate via check, how do I make it out and where do I send it?

Please make your Check, Postal Order or Money Order payable to CAMFED USA Foundation and send to:

CAMFED USA
Four Embarcadero Center, Suite 1400
San Francisco, CA 94111
United States

tel: +1 415 963 4489

An acknowledgment, including information for tax purposes, will be sent to you upon receipt of your donation.

How can I update my credit card/address information?

Please email usa@camfed.org for further instructions. Please note that you will be asked to confirm your information for security purposes. CAMFED considers the security of your personal and payment information the highest priority.

Do you accept donations of books, school supplies, clothes or other materials?

While we appreciate offers to support CAMFED partner schools with supplies, we are unable to accept these kinds of gifts.

CAMFED avoids overhead and administrative costs associated with shipping donated goods or associated with centralized procurement, warehousing and transport. Instead, we provide cash transfers directly to partner schools so that they can buy the supplies they need.

This policy also helps us support local businesses in Africa that sell school supplies, uniforms, and books. For example, some members of the CAMFED Association, CAMFED’s alumnae network, have started businesses making uniforms for schools in their districts.

Do you accept donations of stock?

Yes, we gratefully accept donations of stock. In order to make a donation of stock please contact usa@camfed.org and we will send you comprehensive instructions.

What is CAMFED’s full tax identification?

In the US, our full tax identification is: CAMFED USA Foundation, EIN 54–2033897. For other countries please see the footer at the bottom of all pages on our website.

How can I get a receipt for tax purposes?

For online donations, the acknowledgment you receive via email serves as your receipt for tax purposes.
For donations made by other means, the donation acknowledgment sent to you by post or email serves as your receipt.
To request a duplicate receipt please contact usa@camfed.org

Does CAMFED share my information?

In keeping with our privacy policy, we do not transmit, transfer or sell private information to any outside parties.

Can I donate from my IRA, ROTH IRA, or other financial instrument?

Yes, individuals who are 70.5 years old plus can make a gift to CAMFED using funds transferred directly from an IRA without reporting it as taxable income; the gift may apply to your required minimum distribution.

Contact your IRA provider or use your IRA checkbook to make your gift. You may need to provide them with our Tax ID number, EIN 54–2033897. Contact the CAMFED USA team for more information.

Can I make a gift by wire transfer or ACH?

Yes! Please contact our team at usa@camfed.org, and we’ll send you instructions on how to make those gifts.

Fundraising

I would like to fundraise for CAMFED. Where do I get started?

Check out our online fundraising hub, where you can download a fundraising pack, learn how to set up an online fundraising page and explore our ideas and resources section.

I’m organising an event – can I request materials?

We’d be delighted to share materials to support your fundraising efforts, Check out our download section in our online fundraising hub for materials to support your fundraising efforts. Don’t see what you are looking for? Send us a message via community@camfed.org and tell us more about your event and what you are looking for.

Can I use CAMFED’s Name and Logo?

When promoting your fundraising activity, you must only use our ‘in support of CAMFED’ logo. Please email community@camfed.org to request this. You can add CAMFED’s registered charity details on your printed fundraising materials, and these can be found on our contact us page.

Can I use photos from your website to promote my fundraising and/or event?

We have a selection of photos and text you are welcome to use to spread the word. Visit our download section in the fundraising hub to learn more.

What shall I do with money I have collected?

You must ensure that all money collected for CAMFED is sent to CAMFED. Keep any donations you receive in a secure collection tin, envelope, or container and keep them in a safe place until you can pay the funds in.

  • You can pay in funds online using our Donate page. We would love to hear how you raised the funds, so please share as much information as possible.
  • It’s easy to pay funds directly to our bank account. Please contact our team for further details.
  • Send a cheque/check made payable to CAMFED, with a note sharing who you are and how the funds were raised, to your nearest CAMFED office. Please do not send cash through the post – we don’t want those vital funds to get lost!
  • If you collect funds through a digital platform like JustGiving, FundraiseUp, or Facebook, we will automatically receive the donations.

I’m under 18. Can I still fundraise for CAMFED?

If the fundraiser is aged under 18, then their parent of guardian will need to register their fundraising on their behalf. If group fundraising is taking place in a school or with a community group, the school or group leader will need to register the fundraising on their behalf.

Can you post my fundraising on CAMFED Social Media channels?

We aren’t able to promote events before they’ve happened – but we do use our social media platforms to repost and celebrate fundraising successes. Tag us @camfed or email us on community@camfed.org if you’d like to request a repost on social media! Spreading the word about your fundraising is much more successful when it comes from you. Below are some top tips.

  1. Add a video to tell people what you are doing and why. Platforms like Instagram, TikTok and YouTube prioritise short-form videos, adding music or trending audio to your video will help your content be seen by more people.
  2. If you are taking part in a fundraising event, use the official hashtag in your posts. If you are doing your own thing, consider creating your own. Plus, don’t forget to tag @camfed.
  3. Add your fundraising link to your bio on social media (don’t forget about LinkedIn). You could also ask your employer if you can add a link in your email footer or as a status update on your internal messaging platform.

Does CAMFED do any street canvassing or door-to-door fundraising?

CAMFED will NEVER go door-to-door asking for money, or canvass people in the street.  If someone stops you in the street or comes to your house claiming to be from CAMFED, please do not give them any money or personal financial details. Instead, report them to your local authorities, and please inform your nearest CAMFED office about the impersonation.
