Four members of our CAMFED Association in Ghana have been named as the winners of the prestigious Ambassador for a Day competition organized by the British High Commission in Accra, in partnership with the Australian and Canadian High Commissions and the French Embassy.
Maish, Barikisu, Dorcas, and Feruza won the chance to spend the day shadowing each country’s High Commissioner or Ambassador. Barikisu Ibrahim, a CAMFED Association member from Kumasi district, Ghana, won the opportunity to shadow the Canadian High Commissioner, H.E. Kati Csaba. She said:
Meet Maish Ibrahim - British High Commissioner to Ghana for a Day
CAMFED Association member Maish Ibrahim took on the role of British High Commissioner to Ghana for a day, shadowing Harriet Thompson. On one of the best days of her life, she held meetings, met staff, and discussed actions for achieving gender equality.

After submitting essays and videos explaining their interest in the opportunity, Dorcas Arthur, Feruza Abdulai, Maish Ibrahim, and Barikisu Ibrahim won the chance to spend a day with high commissioners and ambassadors.
In an interview on television channel Joy News, CAMFED Ghana National Director, Sally Ofori-Yeboah, explained how her team shared the competition details with all CAMFED Association members meeting the age criteria of 16-19. They made the process as inclusive as possible by supporting young women to make submissions in their local languages.
