Meet Harriet, a climate-smart agriculture expert from Zambia - Video Transcript

Back to video

Harriet, Climate-Smart Agriculture Expert and CAMFED Association Member My name is Harriet Chello, and I’m a CAMA (CAMFED Association) member from Kasama district in the northern part of Zambia. I was supported by CAMFED through secondary school. I was raised by my grandparents who were subsistence farmers. And I saw first hand the challenges that they faced when growing crops and how to preserve them after harvest time.

That was one of the reasons why I decided to study agriculture sciences because some of the challenges we never used to understand where they were coming from and why we were getting low yields even after we were working so hard on the farm. Now I’m currently doing an internship with CAMFED Zambia, which is Campaign for Female Education in educating young women like me about climate change and ways to mitigate them. Thank you so much.
