Dolores Dickson was interviewed on ABC TV on Sunday May 6, ahead of CAMFED’s first ever Gala taking place on Thursday May 9, in New York City.

On ‘Here and Now’ Dolores spoke to show host Sandra Bookman, who is also serving as an Honorary Event Chair at the upcoming celebration. Dolores explained how CAMFED’s programs are now spearheaded by the young women in our alumnae network, CAMA. Their expertise and commitment to leading change presents an exciting opportunity for Africa and for the world.

We can all be a part of supporting the youngest [by population] continent of the world… We can all be part of this history-making event.

Dolores Dickson, CAMFED Executive Director, Canada and Global Programs

Dolores, who is originally from Ghana and was previously Regional Executive Director, CAMFED West Africa, has worked closely with many young women in CAMA. During the interview with Sandra she spoke of how CAMA’s young leaders are uniquely placed to support other vulnerable girls, rallying community members to tackle serious issues including school dropout and early marriage.

She spoke about courageous change-makers like Rosalinda, who has lived experience of the injustices facing women and girls, and is now paying forward the benefits of her education. Rosalinda is one of 14 CAMA members representing the nearly 140,000-strong network at the ‘Education Changes Everything’ Gala.
