Sharon Barnes-Simmonds is a member of the Controllership Division of Charity Accounts Inc. providing white-gloved financial and technology services to charities and other non-profit organizations. Sharon is passionate about the charitable and non-profit sector. After having spent 10 years with the Toronto International Film Festival, Sharon entered the INGO development sector, where she served as Director of Finance and Administration with Children Believe Fund and then as the Chief Financial Officer of Action Against Hunger Canada. Sharon is also an avid volunteer and has sat on several boards including the Community Music Schools of Toronto as well as the Kiwanis Club of Toronto Caribbean. She was named one of the “Top 50 Women Leaders of Toronto” in 2022.
Sharon is a graduate of the University of Manchester (UK) where she earned her MBA in Finance, and she is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants ACCA (UK). She earned her Canadian Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) Designation when she migrated to Canada from Jamaica in 2003.
