The New York Times: Transform a girl’s future with CAMFED
CAMFED named as a beneficiary of The New York Times Communities Fund for the third year running.

Your belief in us is transforming lives

Thank you to everyone who supported CAMFED in 2025. You have helped us navigate a year marked by uncertainty and change.
You are part of a powerful movement committed to ensuring that children can learn today, young women can lead tomorrow, and communities can thrive for generations: This year alone, 44,000 school graduates joined our CAMFED Association, meaning there are now 350,000 girls’ education leaders across Africa, offering support and mentorship to the next generation.
To our community champions and global supporters: Your belief in girls’ education has transformed lives — including mine. Girls who once walked to school barefoot, hungry, and uncertain, now have hope, dignity, and opportunity. Every investment you make not only changes one life — it ignites entire communities and shapes the future of our world.

In April 2025, Angeline (Angie) Murimirwa became a TIME100 honoree for her leadership of our girls’ education movement. Malala Yousafzai, Nobel Peace Prize laureate, wrote in her profile for TIME:
“Educating girls is the foundation of healthy and strong societies. But in many places, the barriers to attending school are mounting, depriving girls of the resources to choose their own futures. Few people are fighting to solve this crisis as tenaciously and effectively as Angeline.”
Angie was among a small group of individuals invited to speak at the prestigious TIME100 Gala in New York, and delivered a powerful speech on the importance of investing in girls’ education across Africa.
