In recognition of her unwavering dedication to community service and leadership, Harriet Lukanda was elected as National Chairperson for the CAMFED Association in Zambia in November 2023. As Chairperson, it is her aim to continue to champion girls’ education, fight for the rights of women and girls, and lead positive change across the country.
Supported through school by CAMFED, Harriet joined the CAMFED Association of women leaders in 2013, igniting her interest in community development and increasing economic opportunities for women and young people. An active member of the network, she was elected as Chairperson for Kasama District in June 2022.
Harriet holds a Teaching Diploma in English and Religious Education from St Mary’s College of Education, Mbala, and volunteers as a Learner Guide to support vulnerable children to thrive in school. She is a successful agricultural entrepreneur, improving food security and providing job opportunities for young people in her community.
