Girls Learn Today
We provide individualized financial and material support to ensure girls have everything they need in school – including uniforms, notebooks, and menstrual products – and build a nurturing support network around them.

For a girl in rural Africa, education changes everything – it unlocks her power to shape her future. I’m living proof of this, having been supported by CAMFED to go to school, and now leading the organization as CEO.Angeline Murimirwa, CEO of CAMFED, TIME100 Honoree
We’ve developed a proven solution that helps girls to thrive in school, and equips them with the skills and community support they need to succeed.

We provide individualized financial and material support to ensure girls have everything they need in school – including uniforms, notebooks, and menstrual products – and build a nurturing support network around them.

After graduation, we support young women to transition to secure work and leadership roles through the CAMFED Association—a sisterhood of over 300,000 educated women who support the next generation of girls and change the futures of their communities.

We partner with governments, schools, communities, local leaders, and education authorities across Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe to better serve the needs of all children.
Done right, girls’ education and women’s leadership are key to tackling our most pressing global challenges - delivering gender equality, social justice, economic development, and climate action.

By the end of 2025, we had already supported 9,324,252 children to go to primary and secondary school in Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe
5,393,526 students have been supported to attend school or further education directly by CAMFED Association members. Often using profits from their businesses, CAMFED Association members support on average 3 more children to go to school - multiplying the impact of their education.
The CAMFED Association - our powerful network of women leaders educated with CAMFED support - is 355,303 strong and counting
129,156 Community Champions - CAMFED's program works because of the commitment of local community champions. These volunteers include everyone from traditional leaders to government education officials, teachers, parents, and former students.

“This recognition honors and celebrates the transformative power of education and the impact of our formidable global movement... Thank you, TIME, for highlighting CAMFED's work, and to our partners and champions for making it possible.”

CAMFED named as a beneficiary of The New York Times Communities Fund for the third year running.
