This Sisterhood Week is all about spotlighting ‘sisters’ and role models who are a source of strength, support and inspiration for others in their communities and beyond.

Across Africa, members of the CAMFED Association of women leaders educated with CAMFED’s support are fiercely supporting one another to succeed, as well as ensuring the next generation of girls can learn and lead. Our unstoppable sisterhood is 313,000 strong, and its impact and influence continue to grow every day – boosted by a global community of supporters.

Sisterhood Week celebrates the anniversary of our CAMFED Association – founded in July 1998.

This year’s Sisterhood Week launches on social media on Monday, July 28th.

“Our sister, Angeline, is one of TIME’s most influential people. From being among the first girls supported by CAMFED to now becoming the CEO… This honor is for every girl who has dared to dream. This movement is about action and [showing that anything] is possible when we unite together for a cause greater than ourselves.

“[Yours] has been a journey of faith, fierce hope, finding strength in community — especially the sisterhood that stands by us through it all. A very special congratulations to you [on your graduation], Sulemana. This is just the beginning of the dream. I am so proud of the woman you are and the one you’re becoming. Here’s to the next chapter!”

Zambia: A tribute from Diana (pictured right) to Nancy

I’m spotlighting Nancy, who inspires me with her resilience and determination. She’s not only running her shoemaking business but also taking care of her siblings. It’s because of sisters like Nancy that I’m reminded of the power of hard work, love and leadership in action.”

I took the pledge because education has transformed my life, and I believe in the power of standing together. When we support one another, we all rise—and together, we can build a better world. The pledge felt like the perfect place to start, and I’m inspired by the incredible work CAMFED is doing.
