Marceline, secondary student Zimbabwe The light that was inside me started to be bright again. I started to dream big. I started to have hopes. My name is Marceline. My mom couldn’t provide for my resources, the stationery, the school fees, even the transport for me to get to school.
My leg hurts more than usual in the winters, so walking to school was really a problem. I started to lose hope. I started labeling myself as a nobody. I thought that I was going nowhere. I couldn’t even dream big.
Text On Screen: Everything changed when Marceline’s community selected her for a CAMFED scholarship, and set up a safe, affordable boarding house at her school. Now, she can focus on learning and is full of hope for the future.
Marceline The Teacher Mentors give me support. They gave me counseling. They encouraged me to dream big. They encouraged me to work hard in my studies. They [CAMFED] are actually paying my school fees and they are providing me with stationery.
They are providing me with food hampers. Education brings a lot of people in the picture. I get to interact with many people. As the Child Protection Committee president, I get to carry out counseling sessions with my peers. I encourage them to study hard.
I want to encourage young girls and young women that they can actually dream big, no dream is too small to chase. The sky is not the limit, you can actually go beyond it.
