Salama A. J. Ndyetabura

Salama A. J. Ndyetabura is a seasoned education leader and lifelong advocate for girls’ education with over four decades of experience in Tanzania’s education sector.

Beginning her career as a secondary school teacher in 1985, she rose through the ranks to serve as Head of Secondary Schools, District Education Officer, and currently Regional Education Officer. Her leadership has consistently focused on expanding access to quality education, strengthening life skills programming, and championing opportunities for young women to thrive.

A passionate partner of CAMFED since 2016, Salama has played a pivotal role in advancing community-led education initiatives across Tanzania as a key member of the Tanzanian National Resource Team. As Chairperson of the Community Development Committee (CDC) in Chalinze District, she has helped scale the Learner Guide programme to new districts, contributed to national advisory teams, and strengthened partnerships between the Tanzanian government and CAMFED to deliver impactful life skills education in schools. She has also mentored young women through CAMFED’s Business Guide initiatives, empowering girls and young women to build sustainable livelihoods and leadership skills.

Recognized for her collaborative leadership and deep commitment to social transformation, Salama is widely respected for bridging government systems and grassroots communities to create lasting opportunities for girls and young women.

She brings her valuable experience in sharing cross-border learning and expertise to support CAMFED’s expansion and impact across the region.
