Catherine works in partnership with the CAMFED Association of women leaders educated with CAMFED support to develop and scale-up CAMFED’s strategy for young women’s economic empowerment in rural Africa. We enable young women to make the transition to productive and fulfilling livelihoods; to employ climate-smart agricultural techniques on their smallholdings, and to grow their businesses to create new jobs in rural Africa. Catherine leads on learning and the dissemination of best practice to empower young women with vital financial literacy and entrepreneurship skills. CAMFED’s proven enterprise development programs have delivered significant impact measured by young women’s improved business revenues, new job creation and philanthropy to support education in their communities. Prior to joining CAMFED in 2008, Catherine spent five years as a strategy consultant focusing on economic development when she led projects on entrepreneurship-promotion, support for small and medium enterprises and innovation strategy. She worked as a market analyst for P&G and investigated the gender pay gap during her stage with the European Commission’s Department for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion. Catherine holds a BA in History from the University of Cambridge and a Masters in Economic and Social History from the University of Oxford.
