Mutinta lives in a rural community in Zambia. She was raised by her grandparents after her mother was unable to care for her. The family struggled to afford her school fees, stationery, and other essential school supplies.

Life became harder when her grandmother suffered a stroke, and Mutinta sadly lost her grandfather to cancer last year. He had always encouraged her to persevere at school and believe in herself.

A major turning point in Mutinta’s life came when her community selected her for a CAMFED scholarship. With her school fees covered and essential school supplies provided, Mutinta can focus on her studies and pursue her dreams of becoming a paediatric doctor, caring for her grandmother and helping others.

	A girl in school: We provide individualized financial and material support to ensure girls have everything they need in school — including uniforms, notebooks, and menstrual products — and build a nurturing support network around them.
	Africa’s largest network of young women leaders: After graduation, we support young women to transition to secure work and leadership roles through the CAMFED Association — a sisterhood of over 355,000 educated women who in turn send more girls to school and change the futures of their communities.
	Communities thrive for generations: We partner with governments to enhance national school systems, ensuring they better serve the needs of all children.
