Obama Foundation Girls Opportunity Alliance names CAMFED as "Get Her There" campaign partner
Today, Michelle Obama’s Girls Opportunity Alliance announced CAMFED as one of its non-profit collaborators on a new initiative, Get Her There, a global call to action to help educate and empower adolescent girls around the world to reach their full potential.
The campaign brings together a diverse group of everyday people, corporations, industry leaders, nonprofits, and valuable stakeholders to support hundreds of community-led organizations worldwide, reaching thousands of adolescent girls.
CAMFED has been a Girls Opportunity Alliance featured organization since its inception four years ago. Fiona Mavhinga from Zimbabwe and Memory Mumbi from Zambia joined Michelle Obama at the Obama Foundation Summit in 2017 (See photo at top of page – credit: The Obama Foundation), and were excited to support the launch of the Alliance, a program of the Obama Foundation, on Day of the Girl in 2018.

Over the next five years, the Girls Opportunity Alliance’s Get Her There initiative will fund more than 100 organizations and grow its network of leaders around the world who are helping to educate and empower girls. Its diverse and growing coalition of sponsors, collaborators, and supporters are united in ensuring all girls are empowered with the resources they need to dream big. The inspiring Get Her There campaign launch video, produced by Black-ish actress Marsai Martin and titled “Dear 25-Year-Old Me,” features students from the Girls Opportunity Alliance community addressing their future selves, and sharing their ambitions.
