TIME100 Most Influential People
CAMFED CEO, Angeline Murimirwa, named to TIME’s list of the world’s 100 most influential people.
Fanny, Secondary Student, Malawi The main problem that I met during school is poverty. You know, it changed the whole of my life, but still it encourages me to move on with school. I realized that nobody can support the family. I just had to stand and become the breadwinner of the family. I was very young. I desired that time of being considered as a child, but it was impossible. I do think that I could have stopped school a long time ago if CAMFED could not support me.
Being helped by CAMFED, I do feel very proud. When more people are educated, it is the same as development. Those people who are educated they are the role models to others. They show others how important the education is. How education changes a place. I learned that I’m the leader. I’ve got the potential. If I’m not going to change the world, then the world is going to be the same. The world is waiting for me to change it.
