Your questions answered

Donations

I would like to make a donation as a gift for a friend or family member. How can I do this?

To donate as a gift, go to our donate page and tick the ‘Send an eCard’ option to celebrate a special occasion box.
Alternatively, get in touch with us at contact@camfed.org to request a postal card for the recipient, to be sent after your donation is made, which we can then post to them directly.

Can I make a donation to support a specific country or program?

Yes, you can do this in one of two ways:

We are always happy to answer any questions about how we ensure that your funds reach the programs and/or countries you specify.

I wish to donate via check/cheque, how do I make it out and where do I send it?

Please make your Check, Postal Order or Money Order payable to CAMFED International and send to:

CAMFED International
20 Station Road,
Cambridge,
CB1 2JD,
United Kingdom

tel: +44 (0)1223 362 648

To receive an acknowledgment please include contact details and this will be sent to you upon receipt of your donation.

How can I update my credit card/address information?

Please email contact@camfed.org for further instructions. Please note that you will be asked to confirm your information for security purposes. CAMFED considers the security of your personal and payment information the highest priority.

Do you accept donations of books, school supplies, clothes or other materials?

While we appreciate offers to support CAMFED partner schools with supplies, we are unable to accept these kinds of gifts.

CAMFED avoids overhead and administrative costs associated with shipping donated goods or associated with centralised procurement, warehousing and transport. Instead, we provide cash transfers directly to partner schools so that they can buy the supplies they need.

This policy also helps us support local businesses in Africa that sell school supplies, uniforms, and books. For example, some members of the CAMFED Association, CAMFED’s alumnae network, have started businesses making uniforms for schools in their districts.

Do you accept donations of stock?

Yes, we gratefully accept donations of stock. In order to make a donation of stock please contact contact@camfed.org and we will send you comprehensive instructions.

What is CAMFED’s full tax identification?

In the UK, our tax identification is: CAMFED International, registered charity #1029161. For other countries please see the footer at the bottom of all the pages on our website.

How can I get a receipt for tax purposes?

For online donations, the acknowledgment you receive via email serves as your receipt for tax purposes.
For donations made by other means, the donation acknowledgment sent to you by post or email serves as your receipt.
To request a duplicate receipt please contact donations@camfed.org

Does CAMFED share my information?

In keeping with our privacy policy, we do not transmit, transfer or sell private information to any outside parties.

Can I Gift Aid my donation?

If you pay Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax, CAMFED International can reclaim Gift Aid on your generous gifts. It doesn’t cost you a penny, and helps us do even more.

Gift Aid is a UK Government Scheme that allows charities to claim on the tax you pay for the current tax year. Claiming Gift Aid boosts your donation by 25p for every £1 you donate. Your name and address is needed in order to identify you as a current UK taxpayer.

If you’re donating via our website, tick the Gift Aid box when making your gift. If you don’t see that option or if donating by other means, such as a bank transfer or cheque, contact us to ensure your gifts are 25% more powerful.

Fundraising

I would like to fundraise for CAMFED. Where do I get started?

You can check out our Fundraise page to see how other supporters have raised money, explore our resources, and see how you can make your own personal fundraising page. You can set up digital fundraising pages on JustGiving, GoFundMe, Facebook, and others – just search for CAMFED.

I’m organising an event – can I request materials?

We’d be delighted to share materials to support your fundraising efforts.
Please get in touch with us and tell us about your event and we can send you the relevant materials: contact@camfed.org

How do I pay in funds I’ve raised from a fundraising event or collection?

There are several options to pay in money you have raised through collections at a fundraising event:

  • You can pay funds collected into your own bank account and then donate a lump amount using our Donate page, selecting the Paying in funds from an event option. Alternatively, you can send us a cheque of the total amount raised.
  • You can send in cash or cheque donations from individual supporters of your event. Please contact a member of our team at donations@camfed.org to arrange this. Please note that for us to claim Gift Aid on eligible gifts we need the full name of the donor and their address and postcode.
  • If you collected funds through a digital platform like Facebook, JustGiving, etc, we will automatically receive the donations and will inform you when they have been received.

Can I use photos from your website to promote my fundraising and/or event?

We have a selection of photos and text you are welcome to use to spread the word, get in touch with us and one of our team will be in touch.

Does CAMFED do any street canvassing or door-to-door fundraising?

CAMFED will NEVER go door-to-door asking for money, or canvass people in the street.  If someone stops you in the street or comes to your house claiming to be from CAMFED, please do not give them any money or personal financial details. Instead, report them to your local authorities, and please inform your nearest CAMFED office about the impersonation.
