February 13 is Galentine’s Day —  a moment to honor female friendship. Right now all of us are missing friends we usually turn to when things get tough.

But while we are apart, we have never been more connected. We hope you will take and share inspiration from some of our young leaders across Africa. Our sisterhood stands strong as we support each other, and more girls in our communities, during this global crisis.

CAMFED Association members Esnath and Salome

Stay focused, persist and know that you are worthy and enough!

Salome, CAMFED Association member and climate-smart agriculture expert, Zimbabwe

CAMFED Association members Joanna and Cindy

Never be afraid to show the world who you are and what you are made of.

Joanna, CAMFED Association member and medical doctor, Ghana

With millions more girls and young women at risk of exclusion from education and opportunities as a result of the pandemic, our sisterhood has never been more important. In recent months, members of the CAMFED Association (leaders educated with CAMFED support) have helped each other to establish businesses, spearhead action to end child marriage, win recognition from national governments, and lead international advocacy on issues including climate justice and inclusive education.

Their triumphs show that when women support women, amazing things can happen. Join us by reaching out to share some words of encouragement with the friends in your thoughts.
