Education Day 2026
This International Day of Education (January 24), we are celebrating girls and young women who are transforming education.
Across rural communities in Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe, girls and young women are lending their lived experience and expertise to supporting children in their communities, including as peer mentors through a program co-created with young people.

I’m Dominica, a secondary student and aspiring parliamentarian
Growing up in Kilolo district in Tanzania as the youngest child in a humble home, I’ve been through challenging times in my life and education.
With the love of my family and CAMFED’s support, I have been able to attend school consistently, engage in my studies and develop a strong belief in my potential.
One day, I hope to become a member of the CAMFED Association – the network of young women who have been supported in their education by CAMFED.
There are Learner Guides (peer mentors) in my school who lead study groups and life skills sessions. They help to extend opportunities to more girls and boys, and take responsibility for enhancing our learning experiences.
