As CAMFED, we are committed to co-creating solutions with and for the girls and young women we serve. Their lived experience and expertise helps ensure that more disadvantaged students not only remain in school, but can also thrive in the classroom and succeed after graduation.

“My name is Francisca, and I’m in my third year at Senior High School. At school we have a CAMFED Teacher Mentor called Madam Evelyn. She is “the mother” because when you are facing challenges, she will counsel you and give you advice. Education is important because it helps you to achieve all your dreams. In the future, I want to be a lawyer so I can help marginalized people to speak out and voice their opinions.”
“My name is Fatou, and I’m in my final year at Senior High School. I believe in education because there are so many people out there, and without education, they wouldn’t be where they are today. I want to be that kind of lawyer who, even if you don’t have money, I will help you. Everyone has the right to education. When it comes to decision making, women’s views can help a lot.”

As committed members of their school’s all-girls debate team, Francisca and Fatou are already growing their confidence and leadership skills. After graduation, they will be able to join the CAMFED Association — the sisterhood of 313,000 young women educated with CAMFED support across Africa. 37% hold leadership roles in education systems and wider community structures.
Women and girls can do everything. Our first Vice President is a lady. That means that every woman has the opportunity to lead. So therefore, they should bring out whatever that is in them.

A spotlight on girls & young women leading our movement
On October 10, CAMFED Association members in Temeke Municipal, Tanzania, joined forces with Gender Desk Officers to visit secondary school students. They distributed soap, menstrual products, and information on personal safety.
On October 9, 2025, CAMFED Association leaders Ramatu Abubakari and Angela Menyah gave a Day of the Girl interview on ChannelOne television. They offered insights into our work to ensure equitable access to education and opportunities.
CAMFED Malawi’s Executive Director, Susan Silika, accepted a government award honoring CAMFED as the country's best Non Governmental Organization (NGO) for girls’ education.
CAMFED helped me get this far, and one day, I hope to stand beside them—reaching out to the next generation of girls searching for hope.
I’m studying Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry so I can become a doctor and work at a local hospital. My parents struggled to send me to school, but they tried their best and supported me through my primary education. Since CAMFED came into my life, things have really changed for the better!
