Four members of our CAMFED Association in Ghana have been named as the winners of the prestigious Ambassador for a Day competition organized by the British High Commission in Accra, in partnership with the Australian and Canadian High Commissions and the French Embassy.

Maish, Barikisu, Dorcas, and Feruza won the chance to spend the day shadowing each country’s High Commissioner or Ambassador. Barikisu Ibrahim, a CAMFED Association member from Kumasi district, Ghana, won the opportunity to shadow the Canadian High Commissioner, H.E. Kati Csaba. She said:

I will call this a dream come true. I was overwhelmed with joy when my entry was selected. I am looking forward to spending a day with the Ambassador in order to learn and share this life-changing experience with other young people.

After submitting essays and videos explaining their interest in the opportunity, Dorcas Arthur, Feruza Abdulai, Maish Ibrahim, and Barikisu Ibrahim won the chance to spend a day with high commissioners and ambassadors.

In an interview on television channel Joy News, CAMFED Ghana National Director, Sally Ofori-Yeboah, explained how her team shared the competition details with all CAMFED Association members meeting the age criteria of 16-19. They made the process as inclusive as possible by supporting young women to make submissions in their local languages.
