Video: Alice Saisha: advocating for change

Read video transcript

Growing up in rural Zambia with her hard-working widowed mother of ten, Alice worked as a maid and sold cassava leaves to help buy food and school supplies. There was never enough money. Once destined to be a child bride, Alice’s life was transformed when she was selected to receive a CAMFED scholarship. Today, she supports eight girls to go to school, and belongs to the CAMFED Association, a pan-African movement of young women leaders who are ‘ploughing back’ the benefits of their education by helping each other and vulnerable girls succeed across sub-Saharan Africa.
