Jeanne Karamaga Ndyetabura is a retired senior civil servant in the government of Tanzania who served up to the level of Assistant Commissioner for Social Welfare with the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

Mrs. Ndyetabura has a vast knowledge of Family Child Welfare and Early Childhood Development. She holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from McGill University, Montreal, Canada. She also holds an Advanced Diploma in Social Work from the National Social Welfare Training Institute, Dar es Salaam, and an Advanced Teaching Diploma in Theater Arts from Butimba College of National Education, Mwanza Tanzania.

Her career history begins in the early 1970s as a primary teacher at Mgulani Secondary School, Dar es Salaam, and then at Azania Boys Secondary School as an instructor in Theatre Arts and Language. She later joined the Dar es Salaam City Council Department as Cultural Officer (Arts and Language).

In 1990, Mrs Ndyetabura was transferred to the Ministry of Labour & Youth Development, Department of Social Welfare. She was responsible for the rehabilitation of people with disabilities, including creating opportunities for income generating activities, and she led the disabled women’s rehabilitation and employment program as a government representative under an International Labor Organization (ILO) project.

In 1996, Mrs. Ndyetabura was seconded by the Department of Social Welfare to the SERO Business Women’s Association, where she was in charge of women’s enterprise development activities, including training programs in business entrepreneurship. She was also responsible for assisting in the launch of a support program for business women with disabilities. In 1998, whilst at the Department of Social Welfare,  Mrs. Ndyetabura was made a Secretary to the Board of Marriage Reconciliation before being transferred to the Family and Child Welfare section at the same department as Principal Social Welfare Officer Grade One. At this unit she was responsible for interventions on abuse and violence against children. In 2010, Jeanne was promoted as Assistant Commissioner for Social Welfare until 2014 when she officially retired from civil service.
