Diana Good has extensive governance experience with a focus on international development, and has served in the public, private and charitable sectors.

Diana was a founder Commissioner with the UK Aid watchdog, the Independent Commission for Aid Impact, and then a specialist advisor to the Select Committee on International Development in the House of Commons, which both hold the UK government to account in relation to policy and expenditure on international aid and development.

During her time as a senior litigation and investigations partner with the global law firm Linklaters, Diana was one of the original authors of the seminal report on CAMFED’s governance model published in 2010 by Linklaters, ‘Accounting to the Girl.’

Ten years later she authored a new report, ‘CAMA: A powerful new force for development,’ also supported by Linklaters, illuminating how this governance model has nurtured the emergence of the CAMFED Association (CAMA).

Diana currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Trustees of Conciliation Resource, working in peacebuilding and conflict prevention; and previously served as the Chair of Mary Ward Settlement (access to education and legal advice) and Trustee of The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust and Access to Justice Foundation. She has also been governance adviser to Justice Defenders, providing access to justice in sub-Saharan Africa.

A conversation between Diana Good and Fiona Mavhinga, Executive Advisor, CAMFED Association (CAMA)

In this podcast recording of a Webcast from 2019, celebrating the launch of Diana’s report about our leadership network, the international governance expert speaks to Fiona Mavhinga, Executive Advisor to the CAMFED Association.

Fiona is a founding member of the Association, which is also known as CAMA, and which Diana has coined as a ‘new force for development’ in her seminal report.

Diana discusses her background and motivation for writing the report, and her experiences of CAMFED’s impact, while Fiona underscores the importance of having such a prominent expert in the sector bring CAMA’s power and leadership to life, and help shape the new Constitution for the network.

This powerful movement of young women [CAMA] is a passionate, innovative, challenging and unstoppable force. They, who were the most disadvantaged, are now the leaders of change.

CAMFED Governance - Accounting to the Girl

Diana was one of the original authors of the seminal report on CAMFED’s governance model published in 2010 by the global law firm Linklaters. Produced to analyse CAMFED’s community-led structures in Africa. Our governance model places the individual girl — our client — at the center of everything we do, and shares responsibility for her long-term wellbeing with members of her community.
