Lifting up the next generation of leaders
When she thrives, we all thrive
Together this giving season, we can make a difference that ripples outward to benefit everyone.
Lifting up the next generation of leaders
Having once faced the same challenges that vulnerable girls experience, our women leaders in the CAMFED Association are uniquely positioned to partner with communities and with each other to dismantle them. Leaders like Portia – a teacher and entrepreneur, who’s committed to lifting other girls and young women as she rises.
Greetings from Sawla-Tuna-Kalba district in northern Ghana, where I am the teacher at my local primary school.
Despite the challenges—including no electricity or internet coverage—I am so happy to be living out my purpose in the job I do. Students who previously struggled to attend school due to poverty have started coming regularly. I help them by supplying educational materials, required uniforms, and footwear using my own funds – ensuring these children have the necessary tools to learn, thrive, and remain in school.
My motivation to support vulnerable children comes from the daunting challenges I once faced, before CAMFED stepped in. And from knowing that as a graduate in the CAMFED Association, I have many thousands of sisters who are also dedicated to social change.
