Director of Programs, CAMFED Ghana
Muniratu Issifu is the Director of Programs for CAMFED Ghana. Driven by her passion for education, especially for deprived girls, she leads the planning and delivery of holistic programs to support girls and young women to succeed both in education and in their livelihoods.
Muniratu has been working in the development sector for over 20 years. Prior to joining CAMFED in May 2022, she worked with Plan International Ghana as the Director of Partnerships, where she led strong collaborations with stakeholders including the Ministry of Education and its agencies. She was previously the Country Director for Varkey Foundation in Ghana, leading the design and implementation of an innovative program that leveraged distance learning technology to support teachers’ professional development and improve learning outcomes of students in remote communities with funding from the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) under the Girls’ Education Challenge (GEC) Fund, Dubai Cares, USAID and UNHCR.
Muniratu has a wide range of experience working with diverse organizations, including WaterAid, BasicNeeds, Cooperative League of USA (CLUSA – GAIT Program) Actionaid and previous work with CAMFED Ghana, leading a financial literacy program funded by the Mastercard Foundation.
Muniratu holds an MPhil in Development Studies from the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) from the University of Ghana.
