Dorothy Kasanda’s background in education extends over 30 years. Between 2007 and 2022, Dorothy served at CAMFED Zambia as Head of Programs, Deputy Executive Director, Executive Adviser, Director of Partnerships, National Director, and Executive Adviser – Partnerships.

Dorothy began her career in education as a teacher of English and French, and Head of Languages, in several Zambian high schools. Entering Zambia’s Ministry of Education, she rose through the ranks to Education Officer at Ministry headquarters, where she was in charge of capacity building and contributed to the Ministry’s process of decentralization and restructuring. Dorothy extended her experience into civil society, working at the Forum for African Women Educationalists of Zambia (FAWEZA) for five years as Program Manager and National Coordinator before joining CAMFED.

Dorothy holds a Master’s Degree in Literature at the University of Zambia, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) as well as numerous professional qualifications, including a graduate certificate in Quality Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, an Advocacy and NGO Management Certificate through the USAID Vista Program in the United States, and Strategic Communication and Project Management certificates.
