CAMFED believes that every child is entitled to a quality education in a safe environment and a life as an independent adult.
In sub-Saharan Africa 52 million girls are out of school. Poverty is the greatest barrier to these girls receiving an education and, with the added risks of unsafe journeys to school, the lack of private sanitary facilities at school and the pressure of early marriage, girls are the first to drop out.
