Envisioning a world in which young African women learn, earn and lead.
Fiona Mavhinga, Executive Director for CAMFED Association Development is joining a panel of education experts at an UNGA side event organized by the Mastercard Foundation. She will be speaking in the closing session (12:38 p.m. EDT, 5:38 p.m. BST | 6:38 p.m. CAT) : “Embracing Bold Action,” discussing how we advance learning and leadership for young women.
Fiona – one of the first young women to be supported through education by CAMFED and now a lawyer, spearheading our movement of girls’ education leaders – will share her insights and experience on educational development and gender equality in Africa.
Moderator: Julie Gichuru, Founder & CEO, African Leadership & Dialogue Institute
The event brings together representatives from Ministries of Education, Mastercard Foundation Scholars, multilateral institutions and donors to discuss the critical need to invest in education, particularly for girls and young women. Together we are unlocking the enormous potential of young people across Africa, whose leadership can create a brighter and more equitable future for us all.
While this event is only open to accredited guests, it will be live streamed. Follow CAMFED (X, LinkedIn) and Mastercard Foundation (X, LinkedIn) on social media for highlights from the discussions.
