Just 83¢ can keep a girl in school for one day!
With your support we can reach our ambitious goal to fund 1 Million school days this year, securing a secondary education for 5,000 marginalized girls in rural communities across Ghana, Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe, ensuring they have everything they need to attend, learn and thrive at school this year.
By investing in school days, young women empowered by their education are breaking the cycle of poverty. Making the world a better place for everyone. How many days can you support?
The highest rates of girls’ exclusion from education in the world are in sub-Saharan Africa where, even before the pandemic, there were 52M girls out of school and only one in four girls entering primary school were completing secondary education.
That 83c pays for everything a girl needs to learn and thrive whilst at school that day. By investing in school days, you are breaking the cycle of poverty. Empowered by their education these young women are moving into positions where they have financial independence, are leading change, and using their own funds to support more girls to go to school. This is the Multiplier Effect you unleash when you invest in girls’ education.
“Through CAMFED’s investment, I got the opportunity to go to school, complete school, and become a leader in my community. Now I am multiplying the benefit of my education by supporting other girls to go to school”
Girls educated with CAMFED’s support go on to join Africa’s largest and fastest-growing network of young women activists. Each member of the Association, on average, supports another three girls to go to school with her own resources, as well as mentoring and encouraging many more.
Donate now to support more young women like Patience. The COVID-19 pandemic and resulting economic crisis continues to close classroom doors on millions of girls in sub-Saharan Africa, risking their permanent exclusion from education, trapping generations in a vicious cycle of poverty.
When families lack the income for food, transport, school fees, uniforms, and essentials like sanitary wear, girls are the first to drop out of school – but together we can change that. When you educate a girl through CAMFED, everything changes.
A growing movement of like-minded individuals and organizations committed to supporting vulnerable girls to go to school, learn, thrive and lead change. Making the world a better place for everyone.
