Workplace Giving and Matched Gifts
By offering workplace giving to your employees you can enhance your company’s charitable giving and Corporate Social Responsibility activities. It’s a great way to boost employee morale and it’s quick and easy to set up.
To offer a workplace giving scheme, register your company with a HMRC-registered Payroll Giving Agency. They will administer the scheme for you and distribute the donations to your employees’ chosen charities. Employees will be able to see the donation on their pay slip every month.
Workplace Giving (also known as Payroll Giving or Give as You Earn) allows you to donate tax-free to charity through your salary. Employees can give to their charity of choice and choose the amount of the donation. You can also cancel your donation at any time. When an employee donates from their wages, Camfed receives the tax on the donation too, making the gift worth up to 40% more.
Your payroll donation will automatically stop if your employer changes. If you would like to continue donating through payroll in your new position, please let your new payroll department know.
The main Payroll Giving Agencies in the UK are Charities Aid Foundation, Charities Trust and Charitable Giving
Many companies offer a matching gift program to support causes that are important to their employees. By matching workplace donations, employees encourage philanthropy and double the impact of their employee’s donations.
Your contribution to Camfed is much greater than a single donation because, on average, every girl supported by Camfed goes on to send two more girls to school. Through corporate gift matching, your employer can multiply your donation still further, accelerating Camfed’s movement of change and changing the lives of whole communities in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Why not ask your HR department if your company offers a matching gift program. If they do, they can provide you with a matching gift form to send to Camfed along with your donation.
