Camfed believes that every child is entitled to a quality education in a safe environment and a life as an independent adult.

In sub-Saharan Africa 28 million girls are out of school. Poverty is the greatest barrier to these girls receiving an education and, with the added risks of unsafe journeys to school, the lack of private sanitary facilities at school and the pressure of early marriage, girls are the first to drop out.

Your school can help us to reach our target of supporting one million more girls through school by 2020. Just $240 can send a girl to school for a year. We would love to support you in your fundraising efforts. Here a few of our ideas of how you could raise money to support Camfed, we’d love to hear yours:

Ultimate Book Swap

Bring all of those dusty books out from under your bed to swap at school. For every swap donate money to Camfed for books and pencils that girls in Africa wouldn’t otherwise have.

Non-uniform day

Organise a non-uniform day at your school and collect donations to help pay for the uniform a girl needs to attend school in Africa.

Fun Run

Brush off your trainers and organise a Fun run, in aid of Camfed, at your next sports day. Challenge your friends to get sponsored, beat the clock and give more girls the opportunity to go to school.

Pizza at School!

Ask your parents to bring a few boxes of pizza to school, and sell each slice to other students for a donation. All proceeds go to your campaign! Be sure to check with the school administration first though.

Pajama Day

Ask your teacher if your class can wear PJs for a day. Wear your pajamas to school, and donate to Camfed for the chance to learn in comfort.

Bake Sale

Set up a  table at school, and sell homemade cookies or freshly-squeezed lemonade. Don’t forget to tell people it all goes to a good cause.
