The Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking a Finance Manager to undertake the day-to-day financial operations with responsibility for financial planning, management accounting, analysis and reporting. This includes providing financial oversight of the 3-year Mastercard Foundation project fund being implemented in Ghana. The Finance Manager will coordinate with the global finance team in the UK and receive technical support from a part time finance consultant in Canada. Specific Accountabilities

  • Take the lead in financial management and day-to-day accounting processes for the Canada Office, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, income recognition, donation records, bank reconciliation, and expense claims.

  • Have primary responsibility for all accounting records, drafting of journal entries, and maintenance of the general ledger.

  • Treasury management of funds held in Canada.

  • Prepare quarterly financial statements and management information for the CAMFED Canada Board of Trustees.

  • Prepare CAMFED Canada’s annual budget, co-ordinating with departmental budget holders and monitoring budget performance during the year.

  • Carry out month, quarter and year end procedures and prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and reports for CAMFED’s Global Office.

  • Ensure procurement standards are adhered to and documentation is complete.

  • Assist with audit preparation and completion.

  • Compile the annual T3010 Charity Return

  • Compile the semi-annual GST and PST (HST) Rebate Returns.

  • Have lead involvement in accounting for the Mastercard Foundation project fund, including but not limited to the following areas:

    • Monitoring of fixed assets.

    • Reviewing overseas expenditure and cash request processing.

    • Maintaining of all paper and electronic records.

    • Providing consolidated monthly reporting incorporating information received from Ghana and the UK.

    • Lead the annual re-budgeting process.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

  • Degree in accounting or a related field and a CA designation.

  • At least 5 years proven track record in an international not-for-profit with exposure to large grant funding.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

  • Knowledge of working with Salesforce and/or Financial Force preferred.

  • Proven skills in completing and filing the T3010 Charity Return, Annual Corporate Return and HST Rebate applications.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Organized and a keen eye for detail.

  • Able to work independently and provide accurate and timely information to high standards.

  • Flexibility to accommodate time differences to communicate with the global finance team on occasion.
