In 2012, we announced that actress Emma Watson joined the movement to educate girls in rural Africa by becoming an ambassador for Camfed International.
Already an accomplished actress at a young age, Emma Watson has starred in numerous films. She is best known for playing the iconic character of Hermione Granger in the eight enormously successful Harry Potter films. Her performance in the first film of the series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, won her a Young Artist Award for Best Leading Young Actress.
In 2014, Emma graduated from Brown University with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature.
Education is so important, not just for the individual but for society as a whole, and in the poorest areas it is so often girls who miss out. I am delighted to support Camfed and the amazing work they do.
